I help people of all ages and interests to move better and feel better. I love that. I rehabilitate clients in my physical therapy office. I train baseball players and other athletes at GoWags Baseball Training Center. And I maintain an intentional community, training a handful of clients and friends in my basement and back yard…my favorite! I usually stay up too late reading and writing about rehabilitation and sports performance training.

I grew up with an emphasis on all things related to athletics. I still love to compete, mostly in the weight room and basketball court [link]. A loaded barbell and a good song are all I need to get me through the week. I also tried out for American Ninja Warrior [link]. But that didn’t go so well and I had to keep my day jobs ; ) !

I helped found GoWags Baseball Training Center in 2008 and joined Cardin and Miller Physical Therapy in 2012. I’m truly thankful to serve Central PA, where I live with my wife and five children. I enjoy reading, fishing, tumbling through the woods with my kids, mountain biking places unfit for two wheels, and long miserable sets of Farmers Walks and Squats. I still measure my self worth and that of others by their dead lift and vertical jump. I agree with my wife, who says that I have work to do on this![/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section icon_status=”1″ icon=”web|fa fa-check” title=”What To Expect” tab_id=”1466887979791-6f50ed4e-262b”][vc_empty_space height=”15″][vc_column_text delay=”0″]As a health care professional, I approach personal training and conditioning through the eyes of medical training. Don’t settle for merely “going hard” or “burning calories,” when -targeted- physical training can refine the function of your body, and movement is medicine for long-term health. I currently work with professional athletes, weekend warriors, and elderly clients with multiple diagnoses. In all instances, my goal is to empower and educate you on the best ways to reach new heights of physical performance and to care for your body through the rigors of life. You should be able to function independently as an expert on your body and what you need to do to improve and maintain it.

I start everyone with an initial one-on-one assessment where we go over goals, training history, injury history, movement quality, performance tests, and discuss what inspires us and our other preferences. I operate in a semi-private format, coaching 2-4 people at a time (most of the time 2) where everyone is working off of their own individualized program.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section icon_status=”1″ icon=”web|fa fa-check” title=”Credentials” tab_id=”1465941236370-1f6e9fb3-d63e”][vc_empty_space height=”15″][vc_column_text delay=”0″]Doctor of Physical Therapy
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Certified Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (often referred to as “McKenzie Certified”)
Certified Pedorthist (assessment and fabrication of custom and semi-custom orthotic devices)

I completed my undergraduate (Exercise Science) and Doctor of Physical Therapy schooling at Slippery Rock University. I obtained my CSCS ( Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) and began training clients before completing college. I’ve worked as a physical therapist specializing in orthopedics for over 15 years. In this span of time, I’ve devoted nearly five years of formal continuing education and focused informal self study to each of the following:

  • Rehabilitation and performance training for pitchers and other overhead athletes
  • Obtaining my “McKenzie” Certified Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy
  • Becoming a licensed Pedorthist specializing in shoes and custom orthotics for ankle and foot problems.
